Module overview
This module introduces students to some relevant and current topics in quantitative finance that are relevant to practitioners as well as to academics. The module provides rigorous training in applying empirical methods to analyse financial decisions and market outcomes, based on the content in Financial Econometrics and Financial Economics in Semester 1.

- key advanced econometric methods to analyse financial markets and financial data
- the limitations and assumptions underlying methods in financial econometrics

- use adequate statistical software in the analysis of financial decisions and markets

Assessment strategy
Assessment on this module will be in the form of a mid-term test (worth 20% of the final mark) during the semester and a final exam (80%). This is supproted by continuous formative assessment through problem sheets. Assessment is the same for internal repeat. Assessment for external repeat and referral is through final exam only.
