This module will prepare you for your final major project next semester. It will provide you with the opportunity to conceptualise your final project through advanced research into the issues within the global textile industry impacting the environment, climate, working conditions, social responsibility and the luxury marketplace. You will engage with trend forecasting including seasonal design trends and macro and micro market and industry trends. You will explore innovative materials, sustainable alternatives, new and emerging technologies and processes used in textile design and production. You will debate and apply the values, models and ethics of being a future artisan in a sustainable luxury world. You will gain understanding on how to apply your research findings to your specific discipline in Textiles. This module will further develop your digital communication skills in order for you to present your final project concepts, research methods and original idea’s. You will learn to create and write key messages through digital storytelling and visualisations informed by your global issues, trend and innovation research. You will be expected to build comprehensive research journals and conceptual sketchbooks demonstrating your investigation, idea’s, connections and final project messages. The learning from this module will provide added value to your employability and enterprise potential giving you a competitive edge in the job market or to start up your own practice. This module compliments the ‘Ethical Luxury Practice’ module and your final major project next semester. You will receive regular formative assessment with verbal and written feedback and feedforward to enable you to assemble an advanced body of investigative work around global issues, trends and innovations and how to apply them in your final project collection textiles.

• Feedback: •Feedforward will be provided on research activities, trend reports and FMP concept proposal plan, also your sketchbooks, moodboards, fabrications, journals and swatches, technical folders, digital visualisations and storyoards. You will need to demonstrate research knowledge and conceptual idea’s that will inform your FMP. Discuss and enhance your aim, objectives and rationale for your FMP concept, informed by contemporary issues and trend analysis. Demonstrate knowledge of sustainable, ethical and innovative trends in the global luxury textile sector.
