Module overview
This module will equip you with fundamental Fashion Design methods used to conduct research, develop ideas, make patterns and construct garments, it will also introduce you to design technology and presentation techniques to support your growth as a designer. Through demonstrations, workshops and the BA Fashion Design interactive technical and design hubs you will explore a range of core skills and test different methods. A research informed approach to identifying and understanding processes and methods used in the Fashion Design industry today will underpin your informed portfolio of outcomes.

Syllabus
Through this module you will experience interactive creative and technical workshops, develop a range of core introductory skills and produce a folder of technical, design and presentation outcomes.
A comprehensive accumulation of technical and design processes as well as digital and presentation outcomes will create a confident foundation for future practice in the fashion industry. Formative assessment of skills will help to develop greater familiarity and confidence with core techniques.
An industry informed research project will challenge you to contextualise the techniques and processed explored through this module and inspire you to identify and implement real-world applications and outcomes.
Group and one-to-one tutorials are held with specialist staff that will help you to review your progress and development. Group discussion and critical reviews will provide opportunities for peer group learning and self-evaluation.
