About this course

Develop practical and theoretical knowledge with a BSc in Accounting and Taxation. Learn skills and apply theories and practices within audit, taxation and public sector accounting that prepare you to take strategic roles in businesses.

On this course, you'll collect, analyse and communicate data in areas of accounting, audit, tax and sustainability. You'll graduate with the ability to show businesses how to ethically, responsibly and sustainably apply new concepts and practices.

Unlike many other BSc accounting courses, this degree focuses on the public sector and how businesses and policymakers interact. You'll also have the chance to work towards professional qualifications recognised in the accountancy and taxation industries.

As an accounting and taxation student, you'll benefit from:

  • a blend of theoretical, research and practice-led content
  • pathways towards accountancy professional recognition
  • expertise in green finance, accounting, assurance and audit, pension and tax technologies
  • opportunities to specialise in an area of your interest
  • real-world projects and case studies from the University's business partners
  • talks by guest speakers from professional bodies such as HMRC and the NHS
  • workshops, networking and work placement opportunities

Year in placement

Your paid industrial placement year will help strengthen your employability. You'll spend this extra year in a business organisation applying the skills and knowledge you've learned so far.
