We'll also be announcing more Clearing events soon – sign up for Clearing 2025 updates to hear about them first.

Making an application

The quickest and most effective way to apply is by using our online Clearing application form. This allows our admissions team to assess applications promptly.

We'll be opening our Clearing hotline around A level results day on Thursday 14 August 2025, but we still recommend using the application form wherever possible.

To ensure a smooth application process:

  • prepare all applicant documents in advance
  • do not submit duplicate applications for the same student and course, as this can cause delays
  • if the applicant is interested in multiple courses, please email admissions@southampton.ac.uk before submitting the application form

If you plan to call the Clearing hotline on or around A level results day, make sure the applicant has first emailed us confirming you're authorised to act on their behalf.

If we can offer a place, you'll need to log the application through UCAS. We'll advise you on how to do this, and what documents you'll need to include.

We cannot make conditional offers through Clearing.

Tagging an application

To ensure an applicant's Clearing application is tagged to your agency, please email tagging@soton.ac.uk to submit a tagging request. You must include a screenshot of the UCAS application page as proof of support.

Applicants can also submit a tagging request by emailing tagging@soton.ac.uk. Applicants must use the same email address that was provided in the Clearing application when submitting a tagging request.
