The Economies of Central Asia

Project overview

Six months research on the economic transitions of the Soviet successor states in Central Asian and the difficulties they confronted in transitioning away from command economies to ones based on economic liberalism. The grant included a 15 week research trip to gather primary material on the subject in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan.
