Project overview

Funded by the UKRI HEIF Knowledge Exchange Fund, this project seeks to find solutions to the challenges brought by the rising cost of clinical negligence claims following the COVID-19 pandemic. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has meant that the cost of clinical negligence claims is rising, and is now equivalent to 1.5% of the NHS budget. This will have a negative effect on the financial sustainability of the NHS and the provision of patient care in the near future. The proposed projet aims to build strong partnerships and networks between key target groups including healthcare professionals, insurers, compensation bodies, and patients in the UK and abroad to find alternative solutions to the rising cost of clinical negligence litigation.
