Research project

IMPRINT: IMmunising PRegnant women and INfants neTwork

Project overview

This project investigated the mechanisms by which maternal antibodies cross the placenta and reach the fetus. Transfer of maternal antibodies provides the newborn baby with passive immunity while its own immune system develops. Maternal diseases may reduce the effectiveness of this process and reduce the protection of the newborn infants.
