Project overview
This ESRC-funded seminar series brought together academics, professionals and people with learning disabilities to discuss access. The importance of access issues for disabled people is well-recognised but less attention has been paid to access for people with learning disabilities who may face different or additional challenges. The seminars examined how the concept crosses traditional boundaries and questions such as the purposes of access, how access is experienced by people with learning disabilities, what is worth accessing and how access can be enabled and evaluated. The project worked to foster the process of access through greater, shared and more sophisticated understanding.
