Biography

Kate Ham is a versatile and accomplished musician in harp performance, chamber music, education, and community engagement.

Kate gained a Bachelor of Music from Trinity College of Music, London and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of Chichester.

Her pedagogical knowledge and teaching outlook is to empower students  in their learning to reach their full musical potential. Both theory and musicianship are incorporated into the lessons to broaden the student’s comprehension of music in its entirety.

Kate strives to keep the learning process engaging and productive, encouraging full participation in the wider musical offerings at the University from orchestral performances to music therapy, music technology and chamber music collaborations and exploring contemporary works and new ways to reach audiences with the harp.    

Kate is an experienced orchestral player, freelancing with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and previously with the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra in Norway, and the Ulster Orchestra. She is a member of The Austen Trio who gave their debut Harvard University in the USA and released their album in 2019 and is the founder of TWANG! Harps - a schools program introducing music learning through the harp to primary aged children, and Holistic Harmony; offering live music and wellbeing experiences throughout Hampshire and Sussex.
