Gevorg Stepanyan is a Lecturer of Operational Research at the School of Mathematical Sciences within the University of Southampton.
Gevorg's current research revolves around robust decision-making methodologies within an uncertain environment, complemented by an emphasis on embedded sensitivity analysis. The research is motivated by the applications within the domains of policymaking, portfolio selection, robust scheduling, and optimal budget allocation.
Before moving to the UK, Gevorg taught Models of Operations Research, Probability and Statistics, and C++ Programming for Engineers courses for bachelor and master levels at the University of Michigan-Dearborn from 2016 to 2021. He also participated in advancements in mathematical education methodologies sponsored by the TEMPUS EU program from 2008 to 2014.
Prior to lecturing at the University of Southampton, Gevorg received a PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering, majoring in Optimization from the University of Michigan-Dearborn in 2021 and an MS degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, majoring in non-Euclidian Geometry from the National Polytechnic University of Armenia in 2014.
As a GSI at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, Gevorg has taught Probability and Statistics, C++ Programming for Engineers, and Models of Operations Research from 2016 to 2021. Since 2012, Gevorg has been working in the software development industry, contributing to optimal systems and security analysis in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry of Australia, the US National Association of State Treasurers and the National Olympic Committee of Armenia and other organizations.
