Karen is a postgraduate student at Southampton Education School. Karen's research focuses on the construction of sexual and gender subjectivities in transcultural classrooms in Chile. She is a member of the Centre for Research in Inclusion
Karen has extensive experience over the last six years, mainly in qualitative research for educational studies for Chilean government institutions. Her most recent work has been in the area of educational assessment for admission to higher education.
From 2019 to 2022, Karen was involved in the creation of the NGO Minerva, which aimed to promote affective sexual education in Chile.
Since her undergraduate thesis, Karen has been interested in exploring the issue of migration and inclusion in schools in the context of Chile. For her Master's dissertation, she began to explore its intersection with sexualities, investigating the sex-affective relationships and body image of adolescents in classrooms with a high proportion of immigrant students.
