As a member of the enterprise team Simon is excited to have returned to the University of his PhD (Civil Engineering, 1999) to share 20+ years of fintech experiences. His circular path started as with Barclays Capital in 1998 before joining a series of financial firms as a freelance data consultant, including Janus Henderson, BP Oil Trading and ABN-AMRO’s portfolio trading team.
In 2006, looking for new experiences, Simon joined Marble Bar Asset Management, a mid-size hedge fund pioneering ‘quantamental’ stock picking processes later moving to Orbis Investment Management whose contrarian fundamental approaches presented unique financial data challenges.
Finally, prior to joining SBS, he was a Director within Blackrock’s Aladdin Product Group, first leading the integration of ESG data, latterly leading API strategy for Aladdin Studio, an API, data and cloud compute capability with a focus on citizen developers.
During his tenure at Blackrock Simon was the Diversity Equity and Inclusion champion for EMEA gaining insight into the difficulties of building diverse, equitable and purpose driven cultures in large financial organisations.
