Piao Mao is a postgraduate research student in Politics and International Relations at the University of Southampton. His research focuses on Niccolò Machiavelli's political theory. He is also interested in modern political philosophy from the 16th century to the 19th century.
Thesis title: Machiavelli’s Inversion: The Political Institutionalisation of Social Conflict in Machiavelli’s Republican Thought

He has been a seminar demonstrator on PAIR1004 Engaging Political Ideas and PAIR 6008 Dissertation Pol & IR. He is interested in teaching more about the history of political thought and political theory.
He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree (Philosophy, Politics, and Economics) in 2017 and a Master's Degree (Political Theory) from Peking University in 2020.
