Biography

I completed my doctorate in Clinical Psychology at University of Bristol in 2010 and have worked for the NHS since that time. I am also a British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist.

Since joining the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClin) programme at the University of Southampton I have been appointed Module Lead for the CBT 1 Module. I also support the Clinical Director with placement allocations, teach, supervise D Clin research and act as personal clinical tutor.

My research interests include:

Weight stigma and shame in individuals experiencing obesity.

Intuitive eating and bariatric surgery.

The impact of bariatric surgery on body image, self-esteem and relationships.

In my NHS work I currently work in physical health and have during the last 4 years specialised in bariatric surgery. Prior to this specialty I have worked within Older Adults Community Mental Health Psychology, adults of working age CBT services. I am an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and am currently undertaking EMDR training.
