Current research
Rafael is working on the development of a Velocity Prediction Program/Sailing simulator for racing sailing yachts and its integration into a gradient based optimisation routine. This enables the direct relation of design parameters to the performance of the yacht. The gradients are computed using algorithmic differentiation which allows their computation at a fraction of the cost of conventional methods.
