About

Benjamin Sale began his career in 2012 as a laboratory technician at DSTL Porton Down, during which time achieved a HNC in Natural Sciences and an NVQ in Laboratory Activities. In 2017 he gained a BSc Biochemistry degree from the University of Bath, before joining the Southampton Clinical Trials Unit (SCTU) in the pharmacovigilance and quality team. Ben was then awarded a NIHR pre-doctoral fellowship in 2019 to support a training programme developing bioinformatics expertise. As part of his fellowship, he completed a MSc in Genomic Medicine from the University of Southampton, for which he was awarded a distinction in 2020. Through his bioinformatics support of SCTUs Lymphoma portfolio, Ben developed an interest in B cell lymphoproliferative malignancies which led to him taking up a joint position within the Forconi lab and the Clinical Informatics Research Unit (CIRU) as a data manager, supporting the development of an early cancer diagnostic and research platform as part of the CRUK accelerator award, ECRIN-M3 (Early Cancer Research initiative in monoclonal B-cell lymphocytosis). Ben’s current research interests involve the development of computational tools and methodologies which support the collection, analysis, and availability of data, with the aim of accelerating the research within the Forconi Lab and the wider ECRIN-M3 consortium.

You can update this in Pure (opens in a new tab). Select ‘Edit profile’. Under the heading and then ‘Curriculum and research description’, select ‘Add profile information’. In the dropdown menu, select - ‘About’.

You’ll be able to add details about your research, publications, career and academic history to other sections of your staff profile.
