Mr Julio Carrillo Gonzalez

I have strong academic knowledge on social theory and professional experience in applying this knowledge in a wide range of learning communities. I am passionate about teaching the disciplines in which I am an expert (psychology, sociology, and biodiversity conservation). I aim to strengthen multidisciplinary collaborations. Currently collaborations awarded:

-Royal Geographical Society’s Frederick Soddy Postgraduate Award for the project Subsistence hunting, climate change and food security in the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve, Mexico.

-Global Partnership Award, University of Southampton for the project Creative Futures Exchange: Collaboration on ecological surveys and capacity building to preserve tropical forests.

Julio is a Social Psychologist (1^st Class Hons) with a MS in Strategic Planning. Julio has deployed his teaching across different levels of higher education, in Mexico and in the UK. Currently is a lecturer in Psychology and Social Sciences in a Sixth Form College; he has taught undergraduate and postgraduate students at Southampton University. Prior to starting his PhD, Julio performed as senior consultant of United Nations (UN). He was responsible for developing capacities amongst civil servants in a climate change adaptation project between UN and the Mexican Commission for Protected Areas. He also has sound experience designing and leading environmental education expeditions.
