Prior to joining the University of Southampton, she has worked as Director of Learning, Teaching and Enhancement at the University of West London and Head of the School of Health, Exercise and Social Science at Southampton Solent University. She also spent seven years at the Higher Education Academy, where she worked closely with academic colleagues in universities across the UK to develop and share good practice in learning and teaching in health professional education, social work and social policy.
Helen’s higher education experience includes leading institutional projects to enhance the student experience, including innovations in personal tutoring, module evaluation, teaching standards and enhancing academic support and delivery. She has led undergraduate courses in education, health and social care as well as postgraduate courses in social work and health promotion. She is committed to creative pedagogy, students as partners and the development of environments that are conducive to learning.
