Dr Lateef Jolaoso is a lecturer in the School of Mathematical Sciences. He works on continuous optimization, financial portfolio theory, machine learning, data analytics, fixed point theory and fractals. He is a fellow of the Insitute of Mathematics and its Applications and a fellow of Higher Education in Academic Practices.

Current research
Dr Lateef Jolaoso research interests cut across nonlinear, continuous , bilevel and nonsmooth optimization problems. He has published more than 80 articles and his research works have been cited more than one thousand times by various researchers. Dr Jolaoso enjoys working on Nonlinear optimization problems using Bregman distance techniques with applications in applied sciences such as machine/deep learning and image/signal processing. Dr Jolaoso serves as a reviewer for many reputable journals and he is an active member of SIAM.

Biography
Dr Lateef Jolaoso joined the University of Southampton in 2021. Prior to that, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Sefako Makgatho Health Science University, Pretoria, South Africa. Dr Jolaoso received his PhD in Optimization and Fixed Point Theory from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa.
