Dr Alan Hunt

Dr Hunt began the teaching side of his work supervising undergraduate medical student, and biomedical student, research projects in the 1990s and served as Head of Field for all Child Health undergraduate research projects for 15 years.  He has gained considerable teaching experience over nearly 30 years, across all BM Programs within the Medical Faculty.  He is currently Deputy Year 2 Lead for the BM5/6/EU programs and is involved in Lecturing/Tutoring/Facilitating for both Year 1 & 2, as well as in Years 1 & 2 of the BM4 Program and Year 3 of the BMIT Program.  His teaching interests span a diverse range of topics and expertise; these include Physiology, Biochemistry, Teamworking for Healthcare Professionals as well as Research Methodologies, Biomedical Data Analysis and Critical Appraisal.  In 2005 he was one of the first Medical Faculty recipients of the newly created Vice Chancellors Teaching Awards, having been nominated for his small group work in Interprofessional Learning.  As part of a BM5 course rearrangement, in 2013/14 he helped define and set up the Year 2 module “Research for Medicine & Health” which prepares students for their Year 3 Research Projects.  He then ran that module as lead for the following 6 years.  In 2014 he also presented cross-Faculty study “ "Pathological Mechanisms of Disease”, an interprofessional module for students from any programme” at the AMEE meeting in Milan, Italy
