Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:
- To demonstrate an understanding of how clinical psychologists may be involved in the promotion of health and prevention of ill health
- To appraise how issues relating to equality, diversity and inclusion may influence advanced clinical practice at both individual and organisational / societal levels
- To critically appraise policy development, theory and/or literature relevant to advanced clinical practice and leadership
- To demonstrate an understanding of, and critique, intrapersonal and interpersonal processes in leadership
- To demonstrate, using written and oral presentations, their competence in assessing, formulating, and intervening at both individual and organisational /societal levels, evaluating and reflecting on their practice
Syllabus
- Policy generation, consultation and dissemination, and translation to practice
- Models of leadership and how they are applied in applied healthcare settings (making specific reference to the Level 5 Leadership model)
- Sustainability in clinical practice
- Working beyond individual therapy: Indirect and holistic interventions for prevention and treatment
- Working with clinical complexity; incorporation of transdiagnostic processes, equality, diversity and inclusion and community factors into formulations and treatment plans
- Working with high-risk populations
- Advanced clinical practice within one of three specific modalities: cognitive-behavioural therapy, systemic practice, or neuropsychology
Learning and Teaching
Teaching and learning methods
You will experience a number of different teaching and learning activities. These may include lectures, seminars, experiential workshops, modelling and observation, simulated role plays, small group work and multi-media resources. Formative verbal feedback will be given on in-session activities. There may also be problem-based learning, directed reading and independent study.
