Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:

• Analyse the key components of therapeutic intervention and assess how these may be used to facilitate complex and/or innovative engagement in purposeful and meaningful occupation, considering integration of your topic into professional practice.
• Identify and analyse occupational approaches to working with service users with complex needs and propose and justify strategies for working effectively with these service users.
• To critically review and reflect on own professional and personal effectiveness in supporting service users to develop their own self- management and recovery based strategies.
• Apply, justify and critique a range of theoretical approaches and engagement strategies to interventions to maximise occupational performance and facilitate service user participation.
• To identify potential challenges and barriers in practice when delivering innovative and evidence-based interventions, including risk and cost considerations.
• Identify and critically evaluate a range of evidence based occupational therapy interventions and approaches, critically engaging with the literature and playing an active role in debate on the topic.

You will choose and study a minimum of two options covering a range of practice.

Teaching and learning methods will depend on the option chosen but may include experiential learning, lectures, seminars, tutorials, group-work, presentations, collaborative peer learning tasks, visits to practice and independent learning. School of Health Sciences staff, visiting clinicians and service users will contribute to the teaching in this module.
