Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:

• integrate theoretical concepts developed throughout your undergraduate learning programme and managerial practice.
• justify the selection of a chosen topic;
• identify, collect and analyse appropriate data, both primary and secondary;
• conduct an extended investigation including generating primary data;
• critically evaluate the chosen research strategy, highlighting reliability, validity and limitations, and identify opportunities for further research;
• critically evaluate the data collected in the context of existing studies;
• identify, compare and evaluate appropriate research approaches and strategies;

Transferable and Generic Skills

Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:

• communicate effectively using and justifying argument.

Knowledge and Understanding

Having successfully completed this module, you will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:

• alternative research paradigms, research approaches, research strategies and research methods appropriate to chosen topic;
• current research related to chosen topic.
• the selected field of study in management;

There is no set pattern of study; you proceed at your own pace with your personal supervisor. However, it is anticipated that the following topics will feature:

• Selecting and developing your topic;
• Research questions, aims and objectives;
• Research paradigms and consequent research strategies and methodologies;
• Identifying, collecting, evaluating and analysing secondary data;
• Identifying, collecting and analysing primary data;
• Linking research outcomes to current theory and practice;
• Effective communication documents.
