This module provides you with a broad view on key management related topics. It also provides a chance for you to gain hands-on experience on teamwork through preparation and delivery of a group presentation as part of the module assessment. The lectures are supplemented with a number of interactive classes, which give you in depth understanding of the important subjects discussed in the lectures.

Syllabus
Starting with an overview of the historical developments within the field of management, the module will go on to explore various aspects of management from within the following two broad areas.
1. Key functions of business – managing people, managing strategy, managing responsibly, managing marketing, managing operations, and managing projects.
2. Organisational Behaviour (i.e. the study of the structure, functioning and performance of organisations,
the behaviour of groups and individuals within them).

Learning and Teaching
Teaching and learning methods
The module will be delivered via the following teaching and learning methods:
- 24 lectures (two per week over twelve weeks) to cover the core concepts within the outline syllabus
- Tutorial classes based on small groups, working on management related issues and discussing any issues arising from the lectures, background reading or coursework
- Directed readings and formative assessments will be given throughout the module.
