Improving the identification of genomic variants in crops and its application to alleviate food insecurity

Project overview

Continued technological development is necessary to cope with and fully analyse the exponentially increasing amount of genome scale sequence data available. As the field develops we are finding that a wide range of polymorphisms, from single nucleotide changes to structural variants (inversions and translocations) underlie phenotypic evolution. We will benchmark new and existing software and then use this to understand the genomic basis of adaptation in an understudied legume crop.
