About
Emma is a Teaching Fellow in Geology at the School of Ocean and Earth Sciences, University of Southampton. As part of her research, she uses multidisciplinary approaches to investigate the evolution of volcanic systems and mantle processes.

Biography
Emma obtained her MEarthSci in Earth Sciences from the University of Oxford in 2018, and her Ph.D. in Volcanology at the University of Southampton in 2023. Her research focuses on volcanism in active continental rifts, particularly in Ethiopia. She specialises in GIS, igneous petrology and geochemistry, and is passionate about using multidisaplinary approaches to tackle some of the big challenges in geology. In 2022, Emma carried out a 5-month research placement, at the University of Hawaii (with Prof. Bruce Houghton), investigating the tephra dispersal of the 2018 Lower East Rift Zone on the island of Hawaii.
Prizes
