Chris is a political theorist who primarily works on issues at the intersection of global justice and the environment. Particular interests include the biodiversity crisis, the politics of the ocean, animal ethics, and natural resources and territorial rights.

He has published 6 books (including with Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, and Yale University Press), and over 50 articles.

He has held fellowships from the Economic and Social Research Council, The British Academy, and the Leverhulme Trust.

He has also written for The Guardian and the London Review of Books.
