Biography

Julian held various clinical roles in the UK and New Zealand prior to joining the University of Southampton.  He was appointed as Programme Lead for the BSc course and sunsequently Deputy Director of Education.  He went on to Faculty Lead for Practice Learning (a role that encompasses the provision of practice education for all professions Nursing, midwifery & AHP), Director of Programmes and is currently Head of Department: AHP.

 Julian’s doctoral studies focused on identity in men with chronic low back pain using a biographical, narrative approach.  While he retains an interest in this area, current research interests are directed toward practice learning with specific focus on how students have learnt in lockdown (theory and practice) and evaluating the new national physiotherapy placement assessment tool (CPAF).
