Sai Joshi is a postgraduate researcher at the University of Southampton within the Department of Social Statistics and Demography, Faculty of Social Sciences.

In 2023, she was awarded the 'School of Economic, Social and Political Sciences PhD Studentship' for the PhD project 'Assessing the Burden of Out-of-Pocket Expenditure (OOPE) and its Social Determinants through the Continuum of Maternity Care in India.'

Sai's research interests are primarily focused on maternal and child health, the cost of maternity care, and the quality of care. Additionally, her work explores the economic burden of healthcare, investigating the financial impact of out-of-pocket expenses on households and the socio-economic factors influencing these costs and the quality of care.
