This website is aiming to summary the research report of INFO6002. Then this site gives a brief introduction about the evaluation of the accessiblity and usability of two web2 applications and two software applicaitons.

Introduction

This website introduces an evaluation about two Web2 applications and two software applications for the accessibility and usability. The Web2 applications are evaluated according to the checklist of Web2.0 Service Tests which is following the standard of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 while the software applications are according to the checklist of Application Tests which obeys the standard of IBM Human Ability and Accessibility Center and Centre for Excellence in Universal Design (CEUD). The evaluation of Web2 applications is following the standard of web accessibility and usability tests while the software is based on the criteria of application accessibility and usability tests. The web2 applications evaluated are the government web site and collaborative editing web site which would be accessing by massive people. Two applications are the instant messaging software that provides the basic communication functionality with other users. After evaluating these applications, some assistive technologies would be recommended to solve the existing problems.

Conclusion

Based on these evaluations, the data.gov.uk web site is close to meeting the WCAG2.0, Conformance Level AA. The Wikipedia web site is close to meeting the WCAG2.0, Conformance Level AA. Messenger 2011 nearly meets all the checklist of the Web2Access while Yahoo! Messenger 10 meets most of the checklist which still need to improve in some special area.
