Research project

Children and the Elderly in Russia

Project overview

This project, funded by the Nuffield Foundation, explored the differential impact of the 2008-9 economic crisis in Russia on the well-being of children and the elderly, and the extent to which these two groups have been the target of state concern and social policy measures.

The project aimed to establish the degree to which demographic and health policy in Russia has shifted towards a pro-natalist approach at the expense of the older population.
