Here is one last posting on permanent identifiers. This is a very
important topic, but it should be redirected to one of the technical
OAI, EPrints or DSpace lists, not the AmSci Forum, which is reserved for
substantive discussion of OA Policy-Making. -- SH

An interesting comment.

Suggestions on how to help move this issue forward would be extremely
welcome. Librarians would be a natural for this, but who? ARL? IFLA?
Other?

Some people have expressed reservation with regard to publishers taking
the lead, but this should not prevent some of them from supporting such a
movement. An organization such as Google Scholar should be very interested
in supporting such a move, as should the Web of Science and Scopus.

Any other suggestions? Perhaps you should write to me privately and I
will summarize for the list.

Best,

Jean-Claude
