Angelika will be undertaking an industrial placement for 12 weeks in the Pharmaceutical Development group at AstraZeneca (Macclesfield, UK) under the supervision of Dr Mark W. Harrison. Angelika will investigate the fragmentation pathways of AZ synthetic impurities using micrOTOF-Q (Bruker Daltonics Inc., Bremen, Germany), 6410 TripleQuad LC/MS and LC/MSD Trap XCT (Agilent Technologies, UK). She will also perform infrared multiple photon dissociation (IRMPD) MS/MS experiments using LTQ FT Finnigan mass spectrometer (Thermo Fisher Scientific, USA) in the Mass Spectrometry Structural Purity group at AstraZeneca (Alderley Park, UK).

Julie and John, in collaboration with Dr. Richard Brown, also of the School of Chemistry at Southampton, have had a paper published in the Journal of Organic Chemistry. The paper, entitled "Total synthesis and stereochemical assignment of cis-Uvariamicin I and cis-Reticulatacin" has been selected as a featured article. Congratulations to Amaury, John and their collaborators in the Combinatorial Centre of Excellence on the publication of a paper in Journal of Chromatography A.
