The following studies are currently recruiting people with multiple sclerosis as well as individuals without neurological problems, depending on the study. For more information, please contact us using the green button below.

EQUANIMS (Enabling Quantification of Neurovascular Integrity in Multiple Sclerosis) study. For people with multiple sclerosis who are starting their first disease-modifying treatment, we are testing a new type of scan which measures the health of the blood vessels in the brain, and may be useful to predict treatment response early on. The scan feels identical to a normal MRI scan, including a contrast dye injection and will be done twice over 6 months, to see how the results change with treatment. The scans will be done at Bournemouth University.

Haemolysis in Neurological Disease (HIND) study. A pilot study examining a new method to measure red blood cell health using a blood test, for people with multiple sclerosis as well as individuals without neurological problems. This involves a short clinic visit to Southampton General Hospital.

Heat sensitivity in multiple sclerosis. A study of heat sensitivity in people with multiple sclerosis whose symptoms worsen with exercise or hot environments. This study involves answering a questionnaire and  doing some exercise tests in a temperature-controlled chamber at Southampton General Hospital.

OCTOPUS (Optimal Clinical Trials Platform for Multiple Sclerosis) study. A multi-arm multi-stage trial during which successive potential treatments for progressive forms of multiple sclerosis are trialled.
