Biography
Dr Ilias Zazas graduated as a Control Systems Engineer (BSc) from the Technological Educational Institute of Piraeus – Athens, Greece in 2003. In September 2004 he enrolled at the University of Sheffield for the, MSc in Control Systems course which successfully completed in September 2005. In October 2005 he started his PhD degree at the University of Sheffield, Department of Automatic Control and Systems engineering under the guidance of Professor Steve Daley. The PhD studies focused on the development and implementation of Harmonic Control algorithms for the Active Control of Periodic Sound and Vibration. His research was funded by a scholarship earned via written examinations from the Greek State Scholarship Foundation. In March 2009 he was awarded his PhD and appointed as a post-doctoral research fellow at the BAE Systems Centre for Research in Active Control (CRAC) where he worked in a number of projects related to Active Control of Noise and Vibration. In August 2010 he joined the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research as a Research Fellow and promoted to Senior Enterprise Fellow in 2014. In March 2017 he promoted to Principal Enterprise Fellow. In 2016 he co-found and took over the Technic Director role of ClanTect Ltd a University of Southampton spin-off company specialising in the development of human-induced motion detection systems.
