Transplant Gambit geometry to CCM+CCM+ can import the following CAD (e.g. SolidWorks) geometry data format, *.dbs pro-Star/amm database file; *.inp pro-Star/amm cell, vertex file; *.nas NASTRAN shell file; *.pat PATRAN shell file; *.stl Stereo lithography file; *.stp STEP file; *.iges(*.igs) iges data; *.x_t Parasolid file. As you have got some experience of Gambit, you may want to export Gambit geometry to CCM+. For 3-D data, you can export the geometry in *.x_t Parasolid format, and import Surface in CCM+. However, for a 2-D problem, seems it is a bit harder. Seems you have to build a 3-D geometry with a very thin thickness in Z direction in Gambit, as in the tutorial *\CD-adapco\STAR-CCM+ 3.04.009\doc\tutorials\aerofoil\aerofoil.ccm. After importing into CCM+, you can convert it to a 2-D problem (i.e. Mesh->Convert to 2-D). I have converted *\CD-adapco\STAR-CCM+ 3.04.009\doc\tutorials\aerofoil\aerofoil.ccm to 2-D sucessfully.
Transplant Gambit mesh to CCM+
Tutorial 1 --Flow over an Airfoil is a simple example. You may not be able to modify the mesh in CCM+. But, in the fact that the most requirement of a license is the CFD solver, running in CCM+ will help avioding the pain to get a Fluent license.
