The latest release of EPrints (2.3.10) has an issue with outgoing email.
I'm afraid I let a line of testing code get into the release. It's a bit
embarrising,
but I figure it's best to let you know at once.
This bug effects all outgoing email.
I strongly recommend you apply the following change imediatedly:
In file /opt/eprints2/perl_lib/EPrints/Utils.pm
Find the subroutine: sub send_mail
Remove this line.
$mail_func = \&send_mail_via_smtp;
Restart apache.
My apologies for this. It will be corrected in the next version.
On the more positive side, EPrints is becoming a more "grown up"
piece of software, and over the next year we will be introducing more
professional practices.
Better pre-release testing will probably be one of them!
