Another reason for disliking pdf.
go to the library and watch students who have made xeroxes of
professional articles they have to undertand.
They will make notes in margins, circle phrases, draw lines between
concepts and copy things on to paper.
   reading professional material is in a significant way a composition
process. Articles that can be manipulated for learning and understanding are
far more valuable to the reader and that will be come at some point in the
future a signficant item in people prefering
formats other than pdf.
