Gait Recognition - Symmetry Results
Overall, the indoor results were very promising. Out of 35 images, all but one were mapped to a single other gait cycle from the same individual. Once more than one image was used for comparison, all of the image sets mapped to their counterparts correctly.
The outdoor images behaved fairly differently. All of the images were mapped to the correct person when looking at just one gait cycle (03), however, the percentages were very close together, meaning that a larger dataset would be likely to cause this recognition mechanism some problems. Averaging multiple indoor data did not help the comparison to find the correct match. The reasons for this are evident if you look at the output data from the background subtraction. Parts of legs are regularly missing and the resulting symmetry may tends to come out much less precicely (with lower percentage matches).
