About

My PhD research uses frameworks from Black Studies, particularly antiblackness, to interrogage environmentalism, looking at climate change adaptation and ecological solutions that are emancipatory, equitable, inclusive and therefore more efficient. I use antiblackness methodology, as a theoretical and ontological framework through which to uncover truths in environmental discourses. My research considers how disaster risk response and preparedness may at times be inadvertantly antiblack.

Michael's PhD studenship is funded by a FELS Black Futures scholarship. (he/him).
