Nursing at Southampton continues to shine in QS World University Rankings
Nursing at the University of Southampton has ranked within the world’s top 10 for a fifth successive year in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2021.
Southampton, which is ranked third by QS amongst UK universities listed, is well-known for its highly skilled staff who are dedicated to innovations in research and education that create positive change within healthcare in the UK and around the globe.
The University increased it’s reputational rating for Nursing this year amongst academic peers and made significant improvement in its recognition amongst employers, whilst achieving a higher ‘hi-index’ score which measures the productivity and impact of work published by scientists and scholars in the subject.
Professor Julie Cullen, the University’s Head of Nursing, Midwifery and Health in the School of Health Sciences, is delighted for her colleagues to have maintained their status amongst the top 10 in the world every year since 2017.
“I’m so pleased to be working with nursing and midwifery colleagues who have continued to work so hard, especially during the challenging year of 2020 when many have risen to the challenge of devoting extended time to the NHS in support of patients and colleagues amidst the global COVID-19 pandemic,” Professor Cullen enthused.
“To do all of that whilst continuing to deliver degree-level educational programmes that enable student nurses to become qualified as Nursing & Midwifery Council registrants, and join the NHS workforce, is a tribute to their professionalism and perseverance,” Professor Cullen continued. “Achieving our ranking in the global top 10 and third in the UK, provides us with great pride in both the University of Southampton and our inspiring students.”
